We reserve the right to decline a booking following a Meet & Greet if the dog shows signs of aggression, poses a risk to people or other animals, or if relevant behavioural information has not been disclosed in advance.

Onboarding Requirements

Bookings made before these steps are completed are provisional only and will be cancelled if onboarding is not completed at least 48 hours before the booking start date. Any deposit paid will be retained in line with our cancellation policy (Section 6).
Bookings are confirmed only once the required payment has been received and we have sent written confirmation by email or WhatsApp.

Full payment is required at the time of booking.
Multi-Day Bookings (boarding, multi-day house sitting)
Regular Bookings (weekly or monthly walks/visits)
Payment is due in advance, either weekly or monthly as agreed.
Peak Period Bookings
A 50% deposit may be required to secure peak-period dates (see Section 5), with the balance due 14 days before the booking start date.
Late Payment
Where the balance is not received by the due date, we reserve the right to release the dates and treat the booking as cancelled. The deposit will be retained in line with our cancellation policy (Section 6).
Payment Methods
Fees & Price Changes
Our current fees are published on our website at mywaggingtail.co.uk and confirmed in writing at the time of each booking. We may revise our fees from time to time. Any fee change will be updated on our website and we will provide regular clients (weekly or monthly bookings) with at least 30 days’ written notice of any change affecting their ongoing bookings. Bookings already confirmed and paid for at the previous rate will be honoured. Continuing to book services after the effective date of any fee change constitutes acceptance of the new fees.
A £10 per day surcharge applies during high-demand periods to reflect increased operational costs and limited availability.
Christmas & New Year Minimum Stay
A minimum stay of 3 nights applies for any boarding booking covering 24, 25, or 26 December, or 31 December – 1 January.
2026
2027
Peak dates may be reviewed annually in line with the England & Wales bank holiday calendar.
Cancellations must be provided in writing (by email to hello@mywaggingtail.co.uk or WhatsApp to 07756 569 895) and are subject to the notice periods below.
Standard Bookings
A minimum of seven (7) days’ written notice is required to cancel without charge beyond the deposit.
Peak Period & Advance Bookings
For any boarding or holiday care booking falling within a designated peak period (see Section 5), a minimum of fifteen (15) days’ written notice is required, regardless of when the booking was made. This reflects the limited availability and high demand for these dates.
Deposits
A 30% deposit is taken at the time of booking to cover our administrative costs and to reserve the dates for your pet.
Where you cancel within the required notice period and we are able to re-book the dates with another client, we will refund the deposit, less a reasonable administrative fee to cover time and costs already incurred. This fee will be:
Any non-refundable card processing fees charged by our payment provider will also be deducted.
Cancellations Outside the Notice Period
Cancellations made outside the required notice period will be charged in full. This charge represents a genuine pre-estimate of our loss, given that the dates were reserved exclusively for your pet, similar enquiries may have been declined, and preparation time has already been invested. Where we are able to re-book the dates with another client, we will refund the balance paid (above the deposit) in proportion to the dates re-booked.
Early Returns / Shortened Stays
If a booking is shortened after it has commenced, the full amount of the original booking remains payable, as the dates were reserved exclusively for your pet.
Your 14-Day Right to Cancel (Online and Distance Bookings)
Where you book our services online, by phone, or by WhatsApp without meeting us in person first, you have a statutory right under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 to cancel within 14 days of placing your booking, without giving a reason.
If you would like us to begin providing services within this 14-day period, you must expressly request this. By doing so, you acknowledge that:
To exercise your right to cancel, please contact us in writing at hello@mywaggingtail.co.uk or via WhatsApp on 07756 569 895.
Cancellation by Us
Owners must comply with the Health, Welfare & Behaviour Requirements (Section 7). We reserve the right to decline, cancel, or terminate a booking if a dog poses a health, safety, or behavioural risk, or if information provided about the dog has been materially inaccurate or incomplete. Where a booking is terminated for these reasons, immediate collection may be required. We will not refund services already provided, and we may retain a reasonable amount in respect of dates that cannot be re-booked at short notice. Where we are able to re-book some or all of the remaining dates, the corresponding portion of fees paid will be refunded.
Force Majeure
In the rare event that we have to cancel a booking due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control (such as serious illness, family emergency, extreme weather, or government restrictions), we will give you as much notice as possible, attempt to arrange a suitable alternative carer where appropriate, and refund any payments made for services not yet provided. We will not be liable for any consequential losses (such as travel costs, accommodation, or alternative care) arising from such cancellations.
To ensure the safety and wellbeing of all pets in our care, owners must provide full and accurate disclosure of the following before booking:
Vaccinations
All dogs must have up-to-date vaccinations, including:
Dogs must also be up to date with flea and worm treatments (within the last three months). Proof of vaccination and treatment may be requested at any time. Where vaccinations are out of date or proof cannot be provided, we reserve the right to refuse the booking with no refund.
Female Dogs in Season
We are unable to accept female dogs in season for boarding, daycare, or group walks, due to the risk of stress, disruption, and unwanted attention from other dogs in our care. If you believe your dog may come into season around the time of a booking, you must inform us at the time of booking.
If your dog comes into season unexpectedly during a booking, we will contact you immediately and may need to make alternative arrangements. Any additional costs will be discussed and agreed with you (or your emergency contact) before being incurred, and may include: separate boarding at a third-party facility, early collection fees, or additional supervision charges where temporary separation within our care is possible.
Behavioural Standards
All dogs must be safe to handle and non-aggressive towards people or other animals. Dogs exhibiting uncontrolled aggression, destructive behaviour or excessive disruption are not eligible for our services. We reserve the right to refuse or terminate a booking on the day of arrival if the dog appears unwell, has expired vaccinations, or where information provided about the dog has been materially inaccurate.
Restricted Breeds
We do not accept dogs prohibited under the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 (as amended), including:
XL Bully type dogs will only be considered where you hold a valid Certificate of Exemption and remain in full compliance with all conditions of that exemption (including muzzling and lead requirements in public). It is your responsibility to disclose any such status before booking and to provide proof of exemption on request. Failure to disclose will entitle us to terminate the booking immediately with no refund.
Kennel Cough Disclaimer
You acknowledge that, even where vaccinated against Bordetella, dogs may still contract kennel cough. We will not be held responsible if your dog contracts kennel cough while in our care, provided we have taken reasonable precautions.
Dogs Boarded or Walked with Others
Where your dog is boarded, walked, or cared for alongside dogs from other households, you accept that normal dog interactions can occasionally result in minor scratches, scuffs, or stress reactions, despite careful supervision and matching. Except in cases of our proven negligence, we are not liable for such minor incidents arising from normal dog-to-dog interaction. We will inform you promptly of any such incident and seek veterinary attention where appropriate.
Identification Requirements
By law, all dogs must:
You confirm that your dog meets both requirements at the time of booking. We are unable to walk, board, or transport a dog that does not meet these legal requirements, and reserve the right to refuse the booking with no refund where compliance cannot be confirmed.
In the event of illness, injury, or emergency, we will contact you immediately. If you cannot be reached, we are authorised to seek veterinary care in your pet’s best interests, using your registered vet where practicable, or another registered vet where time or distance does not permit.
Veterinary Authorisation Limits
Reimbursement of Veterinary Costs
All veterinary costs are your sole responsibility, including but not limited to consultation fees, treatment, medication, hospitalisation, diagnostics, and any out-of-hours or emergency call-out charges.
Where time permits, we may ask you to pay the veterinary practice directly by phone or card, and you agree to do so promptly when requested.
If reimbursement to us is not received within 7 days of our invoice:
Where unpaid veterinary or boarding costs remain outstanding at the end of a booking, and following at least 14 days’ written notice to you of the outstanding sum, we reserve the right to retain items you have provided specifically for your dog’s stay (such as bedding, toys, or food containers) until the outstanding amount is paid in full. Your dog will always be returned to you promptly and this clause does not apply to your pet. This right does not extend to items of significant value (such as electronics or jewellery), which will be returned regardless.
Emergency Contact
For boarding and house-sitting bookings, you must provide:
(a) A primary emergency contact who is contactable during the booking period and authorised to make welfare and treatment decisions on your behalf if we cannot reach you. This contact may be UK-based or overseas.
(b) A UK-based collection contact who is able to physically collect your dog from us, or grant access to your home, if circumstances require it — for example, our inability to continue the booking due to illness or emergency, or your dog needing to be returned home.
Where you do not have a suitable UK-based collection contact (for example, where you live overseas or are travelling without UK family or friends available), please discuss this with us at the Meet & Greet. We may be able to arrange alternative provision (such as a vetted local carer to take over, or pre-agreed transfer to a licensed kennel) at additional cost, agreed in writing in advance.
Minor Issues
We have experience with multiple breeds and temperaments and will manage minor issues such as digestive upset, mild stress, or behavioural changes, keeping you informed throughout the booking.
Pet Insurance
We strongly recommend you maintain pet insurance covering veterinary costs. Our liability insurance does not cover routine or emergency veterinary treatment for your pet, and any treatment costs incurred remain your responsibility regardless of cause.
Uncollected Dogs
If you fail to collect your dog at the agreed time and we cannot reach you or your emergency contact, additional daycare or boarding fees will apply at our standard rate, charged per 24-hour period or part thereof. After 72 hours of being unable to reach you or any nominated contact, we reserve the right to contact the relevant authorities (including the local council and the RSPCA) and to treat the dog as abandoned in accordance with the Animal Welfare Act 2006. Any costs we incur in such circumstances — including continued care, veterinary treatment, and transfer fees — will be recoverable from you in full.
Across all services:
Where you have given written off-lead consent, you accept that off-lead walking carries inherent risks (including but not limited to your dog running off, becoming lost, sustaining injury, or causing injury to others), and that, except in cases of our proven negligence, you accept these risks and waive any claim against us arising from off-lead activity.
Weather & Seasonal Restrictions
Walks may be adapted, shortened, or rescheduled in extreme weather (including heat, ice, severe rain, or storms) for the safety of the dog and the walker. Seasonal local restrictions (such as bird nesting or deer birthing in nearby parks including Richmond Park) will be strictly observed.
Feeding Around Walks
Dogs must be fed either at least 30 minutes before their walk or at least 30 minutes after returning. We do not feed dogs immediately before, during or straight after walks, as this can pose a health risk, including digestive discomfort and, in some cases, gastric torsion (bloat).
Pick-Up Service
Local pick-up may be provided on foot within our immediate walking radius. For clients outside this area, pick-up and transport are subject to availability and may incur an additional fee, agreed in writing in advance.
Care covers up to 8 consecutive hours within our operating hours.
Care covers up to 18 consecutive hours per 24-hour period within our operating hours.
Pick-Up Service (When Required): Local pick-up may be provided on foot within our immediate walking radius. For clients outside this area, pick-up and transport are subject to availability and may incur an additional fee.
Group Composition (Boarding)
Our policy is to board a maximum of two (2) dogs at any one time, or up to three (3) dogs where all dogs are from the same household. We believe this provides the calmest, most attentive home-from-home environment for your pet, with full one-to-one attention from two sitters throughout the stay.
Matching for overlapping bookings
Where a booking would overlap with another client’s dog (i.e. two unrelated dogs in our home at the same time), we will only confirm the second booking if, in our sole assessment, the dogs are well-matched. We assess:
We reserve the right to decline an overlapping booking where, in our judgement, the dogs would not be compatible, even if both dates would otherwise be available. The first-confirmed booking always takes priority, and the second client will be offered alternative dates where possible. No fees are payable for declined bookings.
Client disclosure obligations
Clients must disclose, in writing or at the Meet & Greet, any history of:
- Aggression, reactivity, or resource guarding toward other dogs;
- Anxiety, fear-based behaviours, or separation issues;
- Incidents involving other dogs (bites, scuffles, etc.);
- Recent or ongoing veterinary treatment that may affect temperament.
Failure to disclose relevant behavioural information may result in the immediate termination of the booking with no refund. The owner remains liable for any costs arising from undisclosed behavioural issues (see also Section 10 — Liability & Limitations).
Shared boarding — risk acknowledgement
Where two dogs from different households share a booking, you accept that:
Behavioural changes during a stay
If a dog’s behaviour during their stay becomes incompatible with another guest dog (for example, unexpected reactivity, persistent stress signals, or refusal to settle), we will:
Group Walks During Boarding Stays
Where a boarder’s temperament, size and play style are well-matched to a scheduled group walk, we may include them in that walk at no additional charge, subject to your prior written consent given at the Meet & Greet or in writing during the booking. Group walks remain capped at a maximum of four (4) dogs per walk (see Dog Walking above). You may withdraw consent at any time, and we will revert to solo walks for your dog. Where consent has not been given, your dog will only be walked solo during their stay.
If you are unsure whether your booking will be shared with another dog, please ask. We will always confirm in writing before the booking starts.
The sitter remains at the client’s property throughout the booking to provide companionship for your pet and an added level of home security while you are away.
Covers a standard stay of 16 consecutive hours.
We provide a 5-hour booking option, allowing you to choose the start time that best suits your needs. Your selected time block will run consecutively from your chosen start time.
We provide an 8-hour booking option, allowing you to choose the start time that best suits your needs. Your selected time block will run consecutively from your chosen start time.
Covers a full 24-hour period of round-the-clock care at your home.
The following add-ons are available across all house sitting packages and must be requested in writing before the booking:
This service provides 60 minutes of attentive care in your home. It is a short, focused visit, ideal for feeding, walks, and companionship while you’re away.
General Standard of Care
We will perform all services with reasonable skill, care, and diligence. However, we are not liable for any pre-existing damage to your property, or for normal wear and tear occurring during the booking period.
Limitation of Liability
Our liability is limited to cases of proven negligence on our part. We are not responsible for:
Financial Cap on Liability
Our total liability to you, whether in contract, tort (including negligence), breach of statutory duty, or otherwise, arising out of or in connection with any booking shall not exceed the greater of:
(a) the total fees paid by you for the booking giving rise to the claim; or
(b) the amount recoverable under our public liability insurance in respect of that claim.
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes our liability for:
Documentation
For the protection of both parties, we reserve the right to take date-stamped photographs or videos of the property’s condition on arrival and departure, and to record any pre-existing damage at the Meet & Greet.
Key Security: All keys, fobs, and access codes you provide will be stored securely. Keys will be coded to ensure they cannot be identified with your address if lost or stolen.
Right of Entry: You warrant that we have full authority to enter the premises during the agreed times. We are not liable for any triggered alarms or police call-outs resulting from faulty alarm systems or incorrect codes you have provided.
Equipment Failure: We are not responsible for property damage resulting from faulty locks or keys. Any costs incurred for emergency locksmiths due to faulty equipment will be your responsibility.
Key Return: Upon completion of the final visit, keys will be returned via the method previously agreed (e.g. through the letterbox). Our responsibility for the security of the premises terminates immediately once the key has been returned.
We may take photographs and short videos of your pet during our services for two distinct purposes:
(a) Private updates to you
We routinely send photo and video updates of your pet via WhatsApp or email during walks, daycare, boarding, and house-sitting bookings. By booking with us, you consent to us taking and sharing these images with you.
(b) Marketing and social media
We may wish to use photographs and videos of your pet on our website, social media accounts (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Threads and Youtube), printed marketing materials, or for dog photography portfolio work. We will only do this with your express prior consent, which you can give or withhold at the Meet & Greet, or at any time in writing.
We will never publish identifying information about you (such as your name, address, or location) alongside images or videos of your pet. Where content is filmed inside your home — for example, during drop-in visits or house sitting updates — general background details of the property may be visible. We take care to avoid filming in a way that reveals your specific address, security features, or personal items, and we will never tag or geo-locate your home in posts.
If you would prefer that no interior footage of your home be shared publicly, please let us know at the Meet & Greet or in writing at any time, and we will limit social media content to outdoor walks and close-up shots of your pet only.
You may withdraw consent at any time by contacting us at hello@mywaggingtail.co.uk. On withdrawal, we will remove your pet’s images from our active social media and website within a reasonable period, though we cannot guarantee removal from third-party shares, reposts or archived versions outside our control.
Late Payment of Service Fees
